Twinbill sweeps were the order of the day as Chateauguay Little League baseball rang up the curtain on another season last Saturday at Bonneau Park. The Orioles swept a doubleheader from the Astros, 13-5 and 9-4 in the Little League Major category, while the A's took back-to-back decisions from the O's in LL Minor, 13-5 and 12-10.

Three games were also played in the T-ball division where the new invention of "blastball" was unveiled. Each time a batter landed on first base, the base made a noise which brought smiles all around from the participants.

In that division, the Cardinals emerged as two-time winners, 24-20 over the Orioles and 30-24 over the A's. Another contest saw the A's stop the O's 28-21.

Robert Manfred blasted an inside-the-park home run and Alex Poissant slammed a triple to spark the Orioles' sweep in the Major division. Robert Walker and Matthew Huot of the Astros made impressive fly-ball catches, while the Orioles' Bayliff boys and the Astros' Steven Panette came up with some fielding gems.

Johnny Fenchak sparked the A's to their doubleheader sweep in LL Minor. Sarah Manfred of the Orioles starred in centre field with a line-drive double. She also gunned down two runners on the bases.

Yet another Manfred, Zachary, caught several fly balls and fired many accurate throws across the diamond to retire batters on ground balls in the T-ball openers. Kayleen Bourdeau, Kyle Blasi and Samuel Charlebois each scored seven runs in the two Cardinals' victories.

Brandon Watson of the A's belted a homer and made a spectacular catch on a fly ball. Alex Hislop, Matthew Jones and Thomas Diabo each crossed the plate seven times. So did Zach Powell, Bailey Wilkinson and Michael McCarthy of the Orioles.
