Starting this weekend, Chateauguay will play host to the Little League Minor Provincial Tournament and Novice festival. The events will take place this weekend and from August 10 to August 12.
9 and 10 year olds make up the Little League Minor Division which are made up of 16 teams, while 4-6 year olds make up the Novice division, comprising around 72 players. In all, there will be around 300 children playing.
With the ceremonies beginning today, the teams attending are from St-Lazare, Valleyfield, Victoriaville, Hemmingford, Coteau du Lac, NDG, South Shore, Brossard, Val d'Or, Villeray, St-François, St-Constant, Verdun and Chateauguay. Despite the chance of rain, this should not discourage attendance as the Chateauguay Big League team from 1982 which attended the Big League World Series in Florida will be present with memorabilia.
