Volunteers feted
Dozens of good Samaritans who give up their time to be with people who are alone or sick received a pat on the back for their good deeds recently.
The Greater Chateauguay Volunteer Service Centre, which coordinates their efforts, gave them much-deserved recognition by organizing a party for them at Maurice Perron Centre in Mercier. A luncheon was served and gifts were distributed.
Those in charge of the centre were happy to see several new faces on their team which provides all types of services. About 40 new recruits joined the ranks of the group last year, the organization pointed out in a press release. The group now counts 150 volunteers in their midst.
